Murray Hall Community Trust Therapeutic Services, receive a grant from BBC Children in Need for a much needed and well utilised self-harm project called Breaking Silence.

In recognition of how valuable the funding has and continues to be for some very vulnerable and at risk young people in Sandwell, Murray Hall decided that we wanted to give something back to both BBC Children in Need and the local community and decided to do our own fundraising in support of Children in Need Appeal night.

In order to bring children/families and the local community together, we held a family fun day event on Friday 27th October, 10am-2pm, where all our guests were welcomed by a host of stars from Pudsey to Murray Hall’s very own Muppets!

Guest appearances also included Peppa Pig and Minion. The local community, staff and volunteers raised funds through raffles, cake and sweets stalls, there were craft stalls, face painting, Name the Bear, and our own charity pop up shop. The families attending took part in a treasure hunt around the building, dance room activities, a games room and sensory room play.

The event was also supported by the dance crew ‘Reckless’, who provided break dancing entertainment as well as supporting children to learn new moves as a way of expressing themselves, Tipton Fire Station and the local neighbourhood police team were in attendance to offer support and guidance on local issues and staying safe.

Donations for the raffle were sponsored by local companies such as Tesco, Monkey Forest and Ian Smith who donated our top prize....a tablet.

Throughout the day, many of the local Sandwell community attended with family and friends, in excess of 160 people enjoyed the day.

One of our therapeutic service users was delighted at the news that she had won the top raffle prize- The Alba Tablet!

A total of £500 was raised!

Thank you to everyone who came and supported the event/purchased snacks/raffle tickets/made donations... you are helping to make a difference to so many lives.
