Job Title: Operations Manager, Sandwell Community Dementia Support Service

Salary: £30,611 per annum

Location: The Bridge, St Marks Road, Tipton

Hours: 37 hours per week

Contract: Fixed term to 28th June 2023


The Sandwell Community Dementia Support Service (SCDSS) is a new service commissioned by Sandwell Metropolitan Council and the Black Country and West Birmingham Clinical Commissioning Group serving Sandwell Metropolitan Borough.

As the lead provider, we are working alongside eight other local organisations; Agewell CIC, Dementia Pathfinders CIC, West Bromwich African Caribbean Resource Centre, Murray Hall Community Trust, St Albans Community Association, BUDS, Age UK Sandwell and Alzheimer’s Society to provide this service across Sandwell Metropolitan Borough.


We are establishing a new team to work with existing town-based Dementia Advisors. The Operations Manager is a new post and the successful candidate will lead on service delivery and with the Operations and Service Development executive on service development and developing strong strategic partnerships with statutory and community organisations throughout Sandwell, working closely with Third Sector and Community Groups. The post holder will head the team of Dementia Navigators, and support staff, including Community Dementia Advisors, based in a town location, and a specialist Community Dementia Adviser (0.8 FTE) focusing on young onset dementia and rarer types of dementia, employed by Alzheimer’s Society.


Service users will be able to access additional support from Alzheimer’s Society’s ‘Dementia Connect’ telephone support and information service. The service will be underpinned by Dementia Friendly Sandwell and the development of dementia friendly communities in the six towns of Sandwell. Workforce development and the Sandwell Dementia Roadmap will be led by Dementia Pathfinders.


It is important that the Operations Manager and has the ability to develop effective team working, proven leadership and service delivery skills as well as advanced knowledge in Dementia Services and evidence-based approaches.
