Parenting Programme

Changes – Raising a family is one of the most challenging things any of us will ever do. The Changes Programme is Sandwell’s ‘home grown’ successful Parenting Programme. Its value is in providing an appropriate, flexible and imaginative framework to support parents to cope with the challenges of raising their children. We offer an 8 week Changes Parenting Programme course that is fun and delivered in a relaxed welcoming environment.

Solihull Approach – Supports emotional health and well-being in the Early Years and up to adulthood, the course is for 10 weeks for parents of children aged 6 months to 18 years, the course will help parents:-

  • Think about their thoughts and feelings and what is being communicated through behaviour.
  • Tune into your child’s development needs.
  • What skills they are learning and have to learn.
  • How to respond to your child’s feelings
  • That we are not always in tune with each other and how to recover when things go wrong

We introduce the “Dance of Reciprocity” which is a concept which relates to all communications and ways of interacting. Children’s behaviour is part of a pattern of communication which can be learned about, observed and understood. Every session has a “homework task” to be done for the next week, where they can feedback to the group. This is to encourage them to think about their communication and their child’s behaviour.
