What Is 1 to 1 Therapy?

One-to-one therapy takes place on an individual basis, between yourself and the most appropriate specialist for your unique mental health requirements, and is designed to provide you with a safe, supportive space in which to explore personal issues and connect with the feelings that are associated with these issues. One-to-one sessions have been found to be highly effective in the treatment of a wide range of mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety and stress, complex disorders and for young people who are struggling with a mental health problem. This form of therapy can be delivered at our main centre (The Bridge, Tipton) as well as via our extensive network of centres, and ensures that your concerns are addressed in a personalised and comprehensive manner, in order to produce the best possible outcomes for you.

How Can I Assure I See A Reputable Therapist?

All our therapists and counsellors are members of BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapist – nationally recognised body) and has a nationally recognised qualification, diploma or degree in the therapy they practise and are covered under MHCT Therapeutic Service Professional indemnity insurance.

We ensure that our therapists have all the necessary checks i.e. DBS, reference check, professional membership and ensure they receive monthly clinical supervision with our own approved clinical supervisor.

How Can They Help Me?

A therapist is trained to listen effectively and help you find a way forward through your problems. You may not be aware of patterns or triggers, or links to your past, because you are so integrally involved. A therapist is outside the situation, and will see the bigger picture. Often, just to talk about your problems can help release the pent-up feelings and reduce your anxiety. Furthermore, therapeutic support can lead to a range of benefits, including the following:

  • Identifying negative thoughts and emotions
  • Preventing addiction relapse
  • Managing anger
  • Coping with grief and loss
  • Managing chronic pain
  • Overcoming trauma and dealing with PTSD
  • Overcoming sleep disorders
  • Resolving relationship difficulties
