Food Bank Facts:
We first opened in April 2013 under the umbrella of MHCT
We gained charitable status 5th August 2014
We are a Charitable Incorporated Organisation and have FOUR trustees and can call on the services of TEN volunteers
We open on Monday (except bank holidays) Tuesday and Friday each week between 11:00am to 1:00pm
We operate a voucher system where a client may have THREE days of food THREE times. We do NOT turn away anyone who will go hungry, even if they do not have a voucher
During the seven years we have been open we have served around 1100 adults and 600 children each year with 10 Tonnes of food and 500Kgs of non-food.
Our clients live in Sandwell, Dudley, Wolverhampton and Walsall
We are supported by individuals, a network of TEN churches, Local retailers and Charitable Trusts
There are over FORTY agencies and organisations which issue food vouchers to clients
We are part of The Black Country Food Bank, based in Brierley Hill. There are TWENTY THREE locations on the Black Country Food Bank network
We offer signposting to clients so that deeper problems which have caused food poverty can be mitigated or eliminated. This includes dealing with such things as debt and supplying signposting to advocacy
We provide leaflets to clients with useful numbers and including some simply recipes for the food they have received
We operate within a caring and non-discriminating environment
