Connecting Caring Communities: A Partnership Project

Connecting Caring Communities is a collaborative initiative with South Asian communities in Birmingham to understand their mental health and well-being experiences. The project partners with Murray Hall Community Trust, Compassionate Communities UK, Evolve & Flourish, the University of Birmingham, and Public Health Birmingham, funded by the Fairer Futures Fund.

Project Goals

The main aim is to listen and learn about community experiences with health services, focusing on mental health care. The project identifies community strengths and barriers to accessing support.

Community Engagement

Small groups of residents from Birmingham neighbourhoods will join discussions and workshops to share experiences. Groups of 10-14 people will meet regularly over several months, starting in areas like Sparkbrook, Balsall Heath East, Sparkhill, and Handsworth.

Empowering Residents

Residents will gain confidence, new skills, and influence service improvements for South Asian communities. These discussions provide a safe space to share experiences and ideas, helping shape better support systems. The project empowers residents to have a stronger voice in the health and care system, fostering meaningful community changes.
