Celebrating Innovation: Our Dementia Navigator Presents National Award for Creative Care

We are delighted that our Dementia Navigator, Sandra Graham, had the honour of presenting the 'Outstanding Approach to Supporting People Living with Dementia Using Creativity and the Arts' award at the National Dementia Care Awards. This event not only highlighted the exceptional work being done in our area but also showcased the innovative approaches being taken in dementia care across the nation.

Recognising Excellence in Creative Dementia Care

Sandra presented the award to Kieun Kwon and Sarah Dobsworth from Runwood Homes. This celebrates those who go above and beyond in using creative methods to enhance the lives of people living with dementia.

"It was an honour to present this award, as a representative of one of the sponsors, Dementia Pathfinders. I've seen first-hand how arts and creativity can transform the lives of those living with dementia. This award not only celebrates innovative caregivers but also inspires us all to think outside the box in supporting our community. It reinforces that dementia care is not just about clinical support, but about enriching lives and fostering connections through creative engagement." – Sandra Graham

The Significance of the National Dementia Care Awards

The National Dementia Care Awards play a crucial role in the field of dementia care. By recognising and celebrating excellence in dementia services, these awards serve multiple important purposes:

1.     They honour the hard work and dedication of professionals in the field.

2.     They provide a platform for sharing best practices and innovative approaches.

3.     They inspire others to adopt person-centered approaches to dementia care.

4.     They foster a culture of continuous improvement within the dementia care community.

These awards underscore the importance of creativity and compassion in dementia care, encouraging caregivers and organisations to explore new ways to support and engage individuals living with dementia.
